Just like that! The dancers are having an awesome time creating their own dance routines, developing their own energiser and of course, getting ready for Friday’s showcase! The talent and energy has completely blown me away! I am really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us all! Teamwork! These campers had great fun making their very own potato bread. Every young person in culinary has enjoyed making a range of lovely treats this week from brownies to fajitas- I even got a few taste tests!! DELICIOUS!! Who is going to get it? I am loving the competitive and enthusiastic nature of our young people in the basketball court! We have speedy runners to the best catchers, our campers are so gifted! It’s all happening in stage makeup! Glittered eyebrows have become the latest craze! I’m sorry I missed this! Our scientists In Science, they were testing their 3D Vision by closing one eye and looking at a line of pencils. I think this i...

TERRIFIC TUESDAY

Image
The world will hear us Our young people singing ‘touch the sky’ which features in the movie Brave. “Na na na na na na” is a simple line in their song, yet they made it sound so extraordinary!  “WOW!” exclaimed Olwen, as she walked into the room. It was awesome to see the young people transforming the music of the world because just like the young people, I believe music can change the world. Drama, drama, drama Our young people are going to be the next Liam Neeson or Emma Stone, I’m serious!! Their enthusiasm was shattering fear and building confidence at an entirely different level. Jacob, the scientist. The science crew were looking at the sun through the telescopes and I think Jacob was even educating the guys from the Irish Astronomical Association! Did someone say that Rory McIlroy was at camp?? Wow!! These campers are unbelievably outstanding!! Everyone is loving golf whether they are just learning or developing their skills. ...

MONDAY MAGIC

Image
MONDAY MAGIC Our young people were flame testing using Bunsen burners. Their enthusiasm was absolutely ON FIRE- it certainly brought out the spark in our unique individuals. A truly incredible experience had by all as they did various tests to bring out different colours in the flame. Sprinkles are us!! The campers had an awesome time in culinary arts making fifteens! And I didn’t even grab a chance for a taste test… gutted!! 'Come on, I’ll race you!' The boys were certainly in their element on the soccer pitch! It is fantastic to see them showing off their talent, burning A LOT of calories and most importantly, having a ball of a time!! In the technology room, the campers were having fun making their very own ping-pong ball crossbows! I think they are nearly experts- they could certainly teach me a lesson or two! Smiles all round! Assistant Director for Culinary Arts, Madison Dixon and Northern Irish Executive Producer, Olwen Griffith are...

"A LIGHT BULB MOMENT"

“A light bulb moment!” A lover of Starbucks, Harry Potter, old houses and teenagers ignites a movement Everybody has a spark… It all began when Camilla was 17 years old, she was just an ordinary teenage girl living in Dallas, in 1971, reading a newspaper article about the troubles in Northern Ireland; she didn’t know that there was trouble - she didn’t know anything. Little did she know, this was the day that was going to change her life, it was a turning point. According to Camilla, “it seared her heart,” she was broken and frantic to help, she wanted to make a difference, but she thought to herself, “what can you do? You are a teenager with no passport, no money, you won’t make a difference.” She told me that it took her three days to figure out that she could pray for peace, but this was all that she thought she could ever do. Stepping stones 25 years later… First Presbyterian Church, in Dallas, were given a financial gift to go into the youth progra...
